Scientist - Investigative Toxicology

My client is a clinical stage biotech dedicated to discovering the next generation of medicines for the treatment of serious diseases. The company has a well funded collaborative pipeline of seven drug candidates in various stages of development targeting metabolic diseases and cancer.

 

The role:

 

• Lead the Investigative Toxicology function to advance the mechanistic understanding of drug and target mediated toxicity

• Design and conduct experiments to help translate the nonclinical safety findings to humans

• Design, plan and execute in vitro and in vivo experiments to elucidate toxicity pathways; apply revolutionary technology to further our understanding of target organs and cell types for safety assessment

• Determine tissue expression of novel targets in nonclinical species utilizing various technologies

• Support R&D programs in the selection of appropriate nonclinical species for safety assessment

• Manage resources in the conduct of in-house and outsourced studies

 

Education:

 

• PhD degree (at least 2-5+ years' postdoctoral experience) in toxicology, pharmacology, molecular biology or another related discipline

 

Requirements:

 

• Proven experience with in vitro assay development and design of in vivo investigative toxicology studies

• Proven track record of solving complex biologic questions as they relate to mechanisms of drug induced pharmacology/toxicology

• Ability to immerse in the understanding of complex biologic pathways and identify key research activities of importance

• Proficiency in liver or cancer biology desirable

• Excellent communication and presentation skills to efficiently relay information to project teams and other key stakeholders

• Experience with large molecule drug discovery and development desired but not required

• Proven ability to work independently and be self-motivated
