My client, an innovative Swiss family run laboratory medicine business is hiring for a Head of Pulmonology for their private heart-lung clinic located in the heart of Basel, Switzerland. Providing personalized, cutting-edge care for patients with complex heart and lung conditions, their multidisciplinary team of specialists is dedicated to offering the highest standards of medical excellence and patient-centred care.
Role Overview:
As the Head of Pulmonology, you will spearhead the development and delivery of superior respiratory care services at our clinic. You will lead a team of expert pulmonologists and support staff, ensuring clinical excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of pulmonary conditions. This role offers the unique opportunity to work closely with cardiologists in an integrated care model, focusing on holistic approaches to both lung and heart health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Pulmonology Department, ensuring alignment with the clinic’s goals for exceptional patient care and growth.
- Diagnose and manage a comprehensive range of pulmonary conditions, including but not limited to asthma, COPD, lung cancer, and interstitial lung diseases.
- Collaborate with cardiologists and other specialists to offer comprehensive care for patients with combined heart and lung conditions.
- Oversee the clinical performance of the Pulmonology team, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of care, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive innovation by integrating advanced technologies and techniques into patient care, including minimally invasive procedures and cutting-edge diagnostics.
- Lead recruitment, training, and development of medical and support staff to build a world-class team.
- Participate in the clinic’s research and development initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning, clinical trials, and evidence-based practice.
- Engage with key stakeholders to expand and improve the clinic’s pulmonology services, including resource planning, service line development, and collaboration with external partners.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, ensuring efficient workflow, high patient satisfaction, and outstanding clinical outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with board certification in Pulmonology.
- Specialist in pulmonology FMH or comparable foreign qualification with MEBEKO recognition and at least 3 years of professional experience with 100% activity at a recognized Swiss training institution
- A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in pulmonology, ideally within a private healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage a clinical department or team in a dynamic environment.
- Strong expertise in both clinical and interventional pulmonology, with experience in advanced diagnostics and treatment methods.
- A collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams, particularly in integrating care for heart and lung conditions.
- Fluency in English and German is essential; proficiency in French or another language is an advantage.
