I am seeking a dedicated and experienced Pathologist to join a multicultural dynamic team in Basel, Switzerland. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert diagnostic services in a dynamic clinical setting, contributing to patient care and advancing medical research. Basel is a leading centre for healthcare, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries, offering an exceptional professional environment. This role is ideal for a pathologist looking to engage in both clinical work and cutting-edge research.
Diagnostic Services: Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of tissue samples, cytology, and molecular tests to identify diseases, including cancer, infections, and inflammatory conditions.
Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including oncologists, surgeons, and other medical specialists, to ensure accurate diagnosis and guide treatment planning. Participate in clinical case discussions and tumor boards.
Autopsy Services: Conduct autopsies when required to determine cause of death and contribute findings to both clinical and forensic investigations.
Quality Control: Ensure the highest standards in diagnostic accuracy through active participation in quality assurance programs and compliance with laboratory best practices and regulatory requirements.
Reporting: Provide clear, concise, and timely pathology reports, ensuring effective communication with referring physicians and clinical teams to support patient care.
Research and Development: Participate in research initiatives, particularly in the fields of molecular pathology, cancer diagnostics, and personalized medicine. Collaborate with leading research institutions and contribute to scientific publications.
Education and Mentoring: Offer training and supervision to medical students, residents, and laboratory staff. Engage in continuing education to stay updated with advancements in pathology and medical technology.
Medical Degree: MD or equivalent with specialization in Pathology.
Board Certification: Swiss Federal Diploma of Specialist in Pathology or equivalent recognized by the Swiss Medical Board (MEBEKO).
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in clinical pathology. Subspecialty expertise (e.g., in oncology, molecular pathology, hematopathology) is an advantage.
Language Skills: Proficiency in German is required, and fluency in English is highly desirable. Knowledge of other Swiss national languages (French, Italian) is a plus.
Skills: Strong diagnostic capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care.
Licensure: Eligibility for medical licensure in Switzerland in accordance with local regulations.
